You’re invited to Return of the Light Bike Ride!

The Occupy Your Bike 3rd annual group bike ride to celebrate the return of evening light and moderating temperatures will convene on Sunday April 9th at 2:00pm. We invite all riders to join this very scenic rural ride on South Whidbey Island. This ride is longer and has more hill climb than our previous rides. Because our goal is to make riding accessible to all, we cast no shame on riders who need to walk bikes up steeper hills. We cheerfully pause and wait for slower riders.

Meeting place: The parking lot at South Island Crossfit, 4777 Commercial Street in Clinton. Parking is available for those transporting bikes on vehicles. For riders coming to Whidbey Island from the Mukilteo ferry, someone will be happy to meet you at the ferry (plan to be on the 1:30 boat) and escort you to the meeting place, but only if we know you will be coming. Please be sure to RSVP if you want a guide.

Route: We'll have printed route maps available for this 12-mile ride with about 650 feet of climb to Langley. Most of the route is on country roads with no shoulders but very little traffic. You can explore the route map on Google Maps.

We'll pause at the park for snacks and socializing. The park has a few picnic tables and terrific views across the water to the Cascades and up Saratoga Passage. It's whale season, so we may even catch a glimpse of gray whales!

The route back to the meeting place will be determined individually at the event, with both a shorter, flatter route (6 miles) and longer, hilly routes available.
